Description
Sight word practice pages with word mapping to align with the science of reading.
Research has proven that word mapping helps kids remember words. By matching letters to the sounds they represent (graphemes to phonemes), kids understand why words are spelled a certain way and remember them. This process of orthographic mapping aligns with research from the science of reading.
These fun, multi-sensory sight word pages include the target words in context! Includes Fry Words 1-100 (see word list below).
This resource includes:
- 100 words x 4 versions (with/without hearts, cut & paste or write a sentence)
- Word Mapping Mats– landscape & portrait formats, write 3 times or sentence
- Word Cards– Use in many ways
- Teacher Guide- New to word mapping? No problem, this guide will help!
Covers SO MANY essential skills!
*Tactile learning- Students finger-trace the word and press the dots to say each sound
*Decodable + rebus sentences- Words are in context, with rebus pictures in place of more difficult words
*Fluency- Students color in a star each time they read
*Word Mapping- Boxes for each sound under the dots. With and WithOUT hearts so you can differentiate based on the phonics skills you teach
*Discrimination- Students find the correctly-spelled words
*Comprehension- Students must understand the sentence in order to draw it, so this ensures they know the word they are working on
*Fine Motor Skills- Cut and paste to build the sight word (version 1)
*Sentence-Writing- Students rewrite the sentence or write their own sentence with the target word (version 2)
Perfect for RTI!
